OREANDA-NEWS The United States has granted Slovakia a temporary exemption from sanctions, allowing the country to continue purchasing Russian natural gas until May. This information was reported by Reuters, citing sources.

Gazprombank will continue to handle the financial transactions of foreign customers for Russian gas.

Earlier this month, it was announced that the United States had granted similar exemptions to Turkey for payments related to gas supplies through Gazprombank.

In November 2024, the U.S. Department of the Treasury added more than 50 Russian banks, including Gazprombank, to its sanctions list. However, in December, the United States made exceptions for Turkey, Hungary, and Slovakia, allowing these countries to continue making payments for Russian gas.
