OREANDA-NEWS  The State Duma adopted in the first reading a bill banning small bars in residential buildings. This was announced by the chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin in his Telegram channel.

The speaker called the results of the vote a response to numerous appeals from citizens. The sale of alcohol in a pseudo-cafe on the first floors of apartment buildings poses a danger to children and contributes to riots, Volodin shared. At night, such stores often violate the law, he stressed.

According to the bill, the subjects will be able to control the time of sale of alcohol in catering facilities in apartment buildings. It will be possible to buy beer and beer drinks, cider, poire and mead only in restaurants, bars, cafes and buffets. In addition, the deputies proposed to ban the production of alcohol with the addition of ethyl alcohol — this will prevent mass poisoning. The bill also does not allow giving alcoholic beverages names that mislead the consumer about the nature, composition, quantity, shelf life or shelf life of the drink.

The Ministry of Finance did not approve this initiative. Business representatives believe that the ban may harm private entrepreneurship and increase the percentage of illegal alcohol trafficking.

Back in 2020, the country banned the sale of alcoholic beverages in catering facilities with an area of less than 20 square meters, which are located in apartment buildings and adjacent territories.
