OREANDA-NEWS. The State Duma adopted a law that establishes payments in rubles for foreign companies in seaports for services for loading, unloading and storing liquefied natural gas (LNG), which is produced in the Arctic zone of Russia.
“Prices that are set for the payback period of investment projects can be set in foreign currency. At the same time, payments for these services are carried out in rubles, ”the document specifies.
Projects for the construction of marine transshipment complexes for LNG are being built with the participation of foreign companies that are shareholders of LNG projects. The text of the law states that the measure on ruble settlements is needed to reduce risks in the implementation of LNG projects that are associated with changes in the foreign exchange markets.
In addition, the adoption of the document will contribute to the development of LNG production in the Russian Arctic zone.
Earlier Wednesday, Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations Peter Szijjártó said that Budapest was working on a technical solution to the issue of paying for Russian gas supplies in rubles. According to him, Hungary will have to fulfill the first payment obligation to Gazprom in early May, and the details of the technical solution are currently being worked out.
