The Russian-Turkish Center Will Be Engaged in Maintaining Peace in Karabakh
OREANDA-NEWS. As reported by "Interfax" agency, a Russian-Turkish center will be set up in Nagorno-Karabakh to monitor compliance with the ceasefire regime. The corresponding agreement was signed by the defense ministers of the two countries - Sergei Shoigu and Hulusi Akar.
Meanwhile, the situation in the conflict region is still stable. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced the transfer of the Lachin region of Karabakh under the control of the armed forces of the Republic. The head of state emphasized that this region was returned without a single shot.
Aliyev is convinced that the city of Lachin should also be transferred to Azerbaijan. But this can only happen after a suitable replacement for the Lachin corridor is found.
Ilham Aliyev proposes to develop a route and build a new corridor that would connect Nagorno-Karabakh with Armenia. He believes that it is desirable to do this within 3 years. Although the President of Azerbaijan believes that his country can do it earlier.
Earlier, in Nagorno-Karabakh, a Russian Interdepartmental Center for Humanitarian Response was created, which included representatives of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergencies, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the FSB and other structures.
