OREANDA-NEWS. The American University Bard College, whose activities are recognized as undesirable in the Russian Federation, has added the corresponding register of the Ministry of Justice. Bard College has become the 35th foreign non-governmental organization (NGO) recognized as undesirable in Russia.

Earlier, the Prosecutor General's Office reported that a decision was made to recognize the activities of this NGO as undesirable on the territory of the Russian Federation. The prosecutors considered that her activities pose a threat to the foundations of the constitutional system and the security of the Russian Federation.

At the end of March, the Coordinating Council of NGOs of the Russian Federation asked the Prosecutor General's Office to check the circumstances of the creation of the University of Liberal Arts and Sciences as a result of the reorganization of St. Petersburg State University.

The council considered that the university being created «may be affiliated with foreign NGOs controlled by George Soros and conducting destructive activities on the territory of Russia». In particular, we are talking about the connection of the future university, and for now the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences of St. Petersburg State University, with Bard College, which, according to the council, received funds from the Open Society Foundation recognized in the Russian Federation as undesirable.

Bard College is a private liberal arts university in the state of New York, it has existed since 1860.
