OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia noted the continuing degradation of the Council of Europe (CE). A message about this appeared on the official website of the Foreign Ministry.
"The continuing degradation of this oldest organization, whose original goal was to strengthen the unity of the European peoples, and its final transformation into an instrument of the West to impose the notorious "rules—based order", has been stated," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement following the 25th meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission of the Russian Federation for the Council of Europe.
The document states that the event reviewed and evaluated the activities of the international organization after the termination of Russia's membership in it, as well as analyzed the main results of the IV CE Summit. In addition, Moscow's continued participation in the CE conventions open to non-member countries was considered, and the parameters of interaction between agencies to ensure Russia's national interests were agreed.
Earlier, the director of the Department of Pan-European Cooperation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Nikolai Kobrinets, said about "elbow-biting" Europe. According to him, the "sanctions blitzkrieg" against Russia "failed miserably." He stressed that the Russian economy has survived and is quickly adapting to new realities, and the country itself is gaining genuine economic sovereignty.
