OREANDA-NEWS  Suleiman Kerimov, a billionaire member of the Federation Council from Dagestan, used to own a stake in the American company SpaceX through the Heritage Trust. This was stated with reference to four sources, including "two former senior officials" of the US Department of Homeland Security, Bloomberg writes.

According to their data, the Russian received about one percent of the space corporation in 2017. A year later, he was sanctioned by the US Treasury Department, which involved asset blocking, for what was called "Russia's malicious activities around the world." However, then this decision did not become a reason to block the trust and related organizations. At the same time, Citigroup Inc., which managed the Heritage Trust, specifically asked the agency for clarification about Kerimov.

As a result, the trust was blocked only in 2022, after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine and under the administration of Joe Biden. However, by that time the company had already gotten rid of its stake in SpaceX.

The agency's source noted that the US authorities are still identifying the companies in which the Heritage Trust invested. However, he did not specify which specific organizations were found.

Earlier, the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that Senator Suleiman Kerimov and two State Duma deputies tried to order an assassination attempt on him. He threatened the named individuals with a blood feud if they did not prove their innocence. A few days later, the senator, one of the richest men in Russia, became an honorary citizen of Dagestan.
