OREANDA-NEWS The Russian military occupied the first line of high-rise buildings in Volchansk, Kharkiv region, deputy head of the main military and political directorate of the Ministry of Defense, commander of the Akhmat special forces detachment Apty Alaudinov said on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.

"If we are talking about Volchansk itself, where we have direct assault operations by units of the Ministry of Defense, then in recent days it should be noted that the heaviest area we had was high—rise buildings in Volchansk. The first line of these high-rise buildings is already completely under the control of units of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Our units are moving forward a little bit every day," the Major General said. As Alaudinov reported in early July, the AFU transferred its elite units, including foreign mercenaries, to Volchansk. He stressed that, despite this, the enemy can no longer oppose the Russian army here. Back in May, Vladimir Zelensky admitted that the situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region is extremely difficult, especially in the border town of Volchansk.

As stated by the head of the Russian administration of the region, Vitaly Ganchev, the military controls the western and northern parts of the city.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine noted the "tactical success" of Russian troops in the Kharkiv direction.
