OREANDA-NEWSThe president of the All-Russian Swimming Federation, Vladimir Salnikov, announced the unification of sports federations in aquatics in Russia, the press service of the Ministry of Sports reports.

This decision was made after his meeting with Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev on September 27. The initiative aims to create a powerful structure capable of even more vigorously developing disciplines such as swimming, water polo, synchronized swimming and diving.

"The unification of sports federations in aquatics can be a logical continuation of the integration process that began after the unification of gymnastics federations. This step will create a stronger and more coordinated structure capable of effectively developing our sports disciplines," Salnikov said.

Degtyarev, in turn, supported the decision to merge, calling it "useful in terms of pooling resources and improving manageability"

"All water sports in the world are united by the international federation of World aquatics. In most countries that have achieved significant success in these sports, they are also developing under the auspices of one organization. When our federations unite, it will allow us to achieve better results, primarily in the development of youth sports and increase mass participation," Degtyarev said.

Earlier, the national gymnastics federations united into one organization.
