OREANDA-NEWS   Moscow highly appreciates Brasilia's desire to contribute to the settlement in Ukraine and its unwillingness to join the sanctions. This was stated in an interview with TASS by Russian Ambassador to Brazil Alexey Labetsky.

"I would like to note separately that we highly appreciate that Brazil has not joined the sanctions regime, refused any arms supplies to the Ukrainian conflict and seeks to contribute to the search for ways to resolve the situation around Ukraine," he said.

At the same time, the ambassador noted that in 2024, political contacts between the countries developed very dynamically both at the bilateral level and in the formats of the Group of Twenty and BRICS. "During this period, the Russian Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Finance and Culture, and the Prosecutor General visited Brazil. Brazilian parliamentarians took part in all parliamentary actions that were held within the framework of the BRICS. High-level representatives in charge of security issues have repeatedly met. So the dynamics are extremely positive, and it retains the potential for further growth, despite all the twists and turns that we are witnessing on the global stage," Labetsky stressed.

According to the diplomat, Moscow understands "the need to further expand the formats of political and economic, including investment, cooperation." "And - what is very important - we see the desire of our Brazilian partners to look for ways to solve the new problems that arise in a rapidly changing global world," he concluded.
