The Police Chief of Omsk Was Detained in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. FSB officers detained the head of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Omsk for a large bribe, according to the Russian Investigative Department for the region. Information about the police officer's arrest appeared on the official website of the department on Monday, April 26.
It is assumed, that the amount of the bribe was $46 827 — the detainee received it through intermediaries from a businessman. In return, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs promised general patronage of the entrepreneur's affairs. He acted together with the head of the structural division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Omsk.
A criminal case was opened under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Receiving a bribe by prior agreement by a group of persons, on a particularly large scale». The suspects were arrested red-handed. They were charged, the defendants were arrested for two months.
Currently, investigative actions are being carried out to establish all the circumstances of the crime committed. The investigation is ongoing. For this crime, the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation provides for a penalty of 8 to 15 years in prison.
