OREANDA-NEWS The Pentagon, in a report on the state of protection against biological threats, stated that some countries, including Russia, continue programs to develop bioweapons. The corresponding document was published on the website of the US military department on August 17.

"The United States assesses that North Korea and Russia continue their offensive biological weapons programs in violation of their obligations under the Convention on Bioweapons and Toxins, and expresses concern about Iran's activity," the review says.

At the same time, the report does not provide evidence of such activities. Accordingly, it is not specified on what exactly the Pentagon's assessment is based.

According to the document, Russia has not fully recognized the existence of former Soviet programs, has not provided evidence of their dismantling and allegedly continues efforts to protect "bio-research of potential dual-use".

On August 15, Democratic presidential contender Robert Kennedy announced that the United States was creating biological laboratories in Ukraine as part of the programs launched by the Pentagon after 2001 to develop biological weapons.

On July 18, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation published the names of persons who participated in US military biological programs in Ukraine and are trying to hide data on working with pathogens of dangerous infections and drug trials on Ukrainians and the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
