OREANDA-NEWS The overall incidence of acute intestinal infections in Russia is decreasing, but there are more outbreaks of such infections, which requires a response, said Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor.

"The general incidence of acute intestinal infections in the Russian Federation tends to decrease, but the outbreak incidence, primarily related to public catering, is growing," Popova said at a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection.

She noted that the number of outbreaks with a large number of victims - more than 10 in Russia has tripled compared to the long-term average level. Such a situation requires a response, Popova stressed.
