OREANDA-NEWS As of October 1, 2022, the number of working pensioners in Russia amounted to 8.1 million people, a decrease of 413.6 thousand compared to July 1. Thus, their number has become the minimum since 2004 (then it was 7.8 million), follows from the data of the Pension Fund (FIU) and Rosstat, analyzed by RBC. We are talking about pensioners registered with the FIU (this indicator does not include recipients of pensions in the system of the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Investigative Committee, and other law enforcement agencies).
The number of working pensioners in Russia has been showing negative dynamics since 2016: then there were 5.38 million fewer of them at once compared to 2015. In the future, the annual decline ranged from minus 430 thousand to minus 210 thousand people (except in 2018, when the reduction was only 2 thousand).
In 2022, statistics allow us to trace the change in the number of working pensioners quarterly: in January—March, there were fewer of them by 100 thousand people (8.41 million) relative to the result of 2021, but already in the next quarter, the indicator regained the drop and returned to the level of 8.51 million. In the third quarter, the number of working pensioners decreased again — already by more than 400 thousand, to 8.1 million people.
The number of unemployed pensioners in the third quarter, on the contrary, immediately increased by 320 thousand people (up to 33.8 million). At the same time, the total number of pension recipients in the third quarter decreased slightly — by 93 thousand people, to 41.9 million. This may mean that a significant part of working pensioners have moved to the status of unemployed.
