OREANDA-NEWS  As a result of the explosion of gas cylinders at a large construction site in Chechnya, 26 people were injured, four of them are in serious condition in intensive care, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said.

"We have now visited patients who were injured yesterday as a result of an emergency at the construction site. A total of 26 people were injured," Murashko said during a working trip to the republic on Tuesday.

According to him, four people are currently in serious condition in the intensive care unit.

"Everyone has been consulted with federal centers, assistance has been provided in full, patients are on the mend," the minister said.

As reported, on Monday, an explosion of gas cylinders occurred at a construction site in the village of Bashin-Kali. The head of Dagestan, Sergei Melikov, said that five people were killed, 22 more were injured, and residents of Dagestan were among the dead and injured.

A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the incident under Article 216 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of the rules when conducting construction and other works).
