OREANDA-NEWS In the first six months of 2019, the number of Russians dying of cancer increased by 1.5 percent. It is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to Rosstat.

According to the agency, for half a year the number of deaths from malignant neoplasms amounted to 149 384 people. Compared to the same period last year, this indicator increased by 1.5 percent.

It is noted that diseases of the cardiovascular system remain the main cause of death for Russians. So, in the first six months of 2019, 441 299 people died from them. At the same time, in contrast to deaths from cancer, the number of deaths from pathologies of the cardiovascular system decreased by 0.7 percent.

In total, from January to June 2019, 918 503 people died in Russia. This is 3 percent less than in the first six months of 2018.
