The Moscow Courts Received 1,608 Cases of Violations at the Rally in Support of Navalny
OREANDA-NEWS. The Moscow courts received 1,608 cases of administrative offenses initiated in connection with unauthorized actions in support of Alexei Navalny on January 23. This was reported on Friday, January 29, by a representative of the Moscow City Court.
It is noteworthy, that 41 of them were opened under the article on disobedience to the lawful order of a police officer, and another 1,567 — under the article on violation of the established procedure for organizing or holding an assembly or rally. Administrative arrests were made against 154 people. The terms of arrests range from 7 to 15 days. 354 people were sentenced to an administrative fine in the amount of $131 to $3.3 thousand.
In addition, on January 29, it became known, that a member of the Council of Deputies of the Zyuzino district, Konstantin Yankauskas, was detained. He informs about that on Twitter. According to the portal «OVD-Info», the detention is connected with a criminal case on violation of sanitary and epidemiological norms.
As a result of mass protests against the arrest of Alexei Navalny in Russia more than 4,000 people were detained, the human rights portal «OVD-Info» reported. This is a record number of all-time protest events in the modern history of Russia. On January 23, they were held in more than 120 cities of the Russian Federation and more than 70 - abroad. According to Reuters estimates, up to 40,000 protesters gathered for the unauthorized rally in Moscow alone.
