OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation keeps the issue of container export from the Far East under constant control, First Deputy Minister of Transport Valentin Ivanov told reporters at the WEF.

The head of the Ministry of Regional Development, Alexey Chekunkov, said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the eve of the WEF that the loading of Far Eastern ports with containers with imported goods sometimes exceeds 100%. This slows down the speed of unloading ships and their further loading with containers for export.

"We are currently monitoring the situation, we regularly review it together with Russian Railways, seaports, container operators. We see the demand for this route for imported goods in containers. Therefore, if we have a really critical situation, we will look at what additional mechanisms we can implement," Ivanov replied to the question about the need to take additional measures to accelerate the export of imported goods from the Far East.

He added that the measures taken earlier to increase the use of gondola cars for the transportation of imported goods, increase the number of container trains in communication with the Far East, as well as the planned increase in the capacity of the railway infrastructure make it possible to increase the volume of transportation, including cargo in containers.

The Eastern Economic Forum is taking place on September 3-6 on the campus of the Far Eastern Federal University in Vladivostok. RIA Novosti is the general information partner of the WEF-2024.
