OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia has prepared a draft strategy for the development of the mineral resource base for the period up to 2035 with an extended planning horizon until 2050, the ministry said.

"The strategy includes two scenarios for the development of the mineral resource base, depending on the needs of the Russian economy. The basic one, according to which the availability of reserves and the extraction of minerals remains at the current level with a slight increase, and the target one, focused on the advanced expansion of the mineral resource base. Its task is to ensure the growing demand in the country for minerals necessary for the development of industry, including the military-industrial complex," the words of the head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov are quoted in the message.

The draft strategy has been sent to the federal executive authorities, then the Cabinet of Ministers will consider it. The document was developed on behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin and is the main one for strategic planning in the field of subsoil use.

According to the Ministry, the developed long-term forecast of consumption of mineral raw materials will be linked to the planning documents of other sectors of the domestic economy.
