OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Health has issued permission to conduct clinical trials of a new drug to neutralize botulism toxin A, Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said.

"The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has issued a permit for clinical trials of a new drug for neutralization of botulism toxin A, developed by NITSEM named after Gamalei. This is a drug based on monoclonal antibodies capable of binding the toxin in the patient's blood," Murashko told reporters.

He clarified that at the preclinical stage, studies of toxicity, safety, and efficacy were conducted on models where the drug showed good results. This made it possible to proceed to the study of the drug with the participation of people, the minister explained.
