OREANDA-NEWS The Ministry of Finance of the Russian Federation wants to oblige large IT companies to direct 5% of taxes that they have saved due to benefits for the industry to improve the quality of education in specialized universities, starting next year this may become one of the conditions for extending accreditation for IT companies, said the head of the ministry Maksut Shadaev.

"All lately ... we have had a discussion only in one direction - which additional benefits: tax benefits, deferrals, preferential IT mortgages. And here we say that you still owe a small percentage - so far we are discussing 5% of those taxes that were saved by large companies... we also say companies above a certain turnover should be directed to improving the quality of education in IT universities," Shadaev said at a Yandex press breakfast Education" "Big Techs and Universities: the results of the 2024/2025 admission campaign and partnership models".

"First of all, we are concerned about personnel - those personnel that large IT companies can delegate to universities in order to improve the quality of education, to create new educational programs together. We are actively discussing all this with the industry. ...I think that in September-October we will agree on the final parameters. They will become a condition for the extension of accreditation for IT companies starting next year," the minister added.

Shadaev noted that without the participation of companies, "we simply will not be able to provide the necessary quality of these specialists upon graduation from higher education institutions."

He also added that the national project "Data Economy" pays maximum attention to the topic of education, and an increase in funding is also expected.
