OREANDA-NEWS  The Ministry of Finance of Russia considers the idea of placing state securities denominated in dirhams of the UAE interesting, but did not seriously think about it, Denis Mamonov, director of the Department of Public Debt and state Financial Assets of the ministry, told reporters.

"The idea is interesting, but, to be honest, we haven't really thought about it yet, probably due to the fact that the dirham market is very specific, it is not so obviously liquid, I would say it is not even liquid at all like the yuan market," he commented on the possible placement of government securities in the UAE dirhams.

Therefore, the priority of the Ministry of Finance is still towards the possible placement of state securities in yuan, he continued. "Everything else, apparently, will be after," the official concluded.
