The Ministry of Education Explained Why the Russian Analogue of Zoom Was Created
OREANDA-NEWS. The Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation does not intend to replace full-time education in schools with distance learning. This was stated by the Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergei Kravtsov at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The broadcast was hosted by the Russia 24 TV channel.
The minister once again stressed that distance learning is a necessary measure to preserve the health of teachers and students. On September 1, schools returned to traditional full-time education. Now they return to the online learning format only locally, if necessary.
Vladimir Putin recalled that work on equipping schools with high-speed Internet should be completed this year.
In addition, Kravtsov emphasized that the digital environment created in Russia, which includes a video conferencing system and a social network, complements classical education and improves its quality. The content is reviewed by experts and meets federal government standards.
The Russian platform for video communication "Digital Educational Environment" is an analogue of the American service Zoom. This platform was used by most Russian schoolchildren when it was decided to switch to distance learning. However, Zoom was often hacked by hackers and disrupted lessons. At the beginning of the new academic year, Moscow schoolchildren began using Microsoft Teams. Earlier, Kravtsov reported that the new Russian platform has already been tested in schools in the Moscow region.
