The Media Reported Russian Patrol Was Fired by the Turkish Military in Syria
OREANDA-NEWS. Pro-Kurdish media reported that Russian military policemen came under fire from the Turkish military in northern Syria.
In particular, they refer to a videotape in which a group of Russian-speaking military personnel is under fire.
The fact that the “column of Russian military men” came under fire, was reported by PeyamaKurd website with the reference to sources. TV channel Kurdistan24 reported on its Twitter page that the bomb exploded near a Russian military patrol in the area of Derbisie, it injured at least five people, including both the military and civilians. The channel informed that the shelling was carried out from the Turkish side. PeyamaKurd reported about four injured civilians. According to the Syrian state agency SANA, six people were injured, including civilians. Journalists did not mention whether there were Russians among the victims.
According to North Press Agency, the Turkish military contacted their Russian counterparts immediately after the incident.
There have been no official reports on the incident from either the Russian or the Turkish side.
Border crossing Derbisie is located at the distance of about 240 kilometers from the city of Kobani, where a company of Russian military police arrived on October 27 to patrol the territory.
On October 22, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan held talks in Sochi and secured new zones of influence in northeastern Syria. The politicians agreed on joint patrolling of the territory abandoned by the Kurds, as well as on the return of Syrian border guards to the frontier with Turkey.
