OREANDA-NEWS. Russian and United States Presidents Putin and Biden may have their first meeting in Switzerland. This is reported by the Swiss newspaper Tages-Anzeiger, citing sources.

According to it, the exact time and place of the planned meeting is not yet known. Probably, as the newspaper writes, the meeting will take place in the next two weeks in Geneva.

Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that there is no eventual agreement on holding a meeting between the leaders of Russia and the USA, but if it is arranged for, the summit could be set up in one of the "European diplomatic capitals." US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said the American side expects the two presidents' meeting in the coming weeks.

Moscow emphasized the importance of choosing a city for the meeting between Putin and Biden. As the press secretary of the Russian leader Dmitry Peskov said, the choice of the city where the meeting of the presidents of Russia and the United States Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden could take place is rather a technical decision, the main thing is the fact of the meeting itself, since it is extremely significant for the withdrawal of bilateral relations from that the sad situation in which the both states are now.

Presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov added that when Vladimir Putin decides to meet with American leader Joe Biden, the public will be immediately informed.

Peskov said on Rossiya TV: "The meeting is being negotiated. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told in detail to the president about the results of his talks with Anthony Blinken, and the president will make a relevant decision. And as soon as he decides, we will inform the public."
