The Maximum Death Rate from COVID-19 has been Recorded for the Last Three Days in Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. In Russia, the maximum mortality rates from coronavirus are recorded for the third day in a row. Over the past day, 672 patients died from COVID-19 pneumonia in the country, the federal operational headquarters reported on Thursday, July 1.
The largest number of deaths among Russian regions is in St. Petersburg (115) and Moscow (108). Since the beginning of the pandemic, according to the headquarters, 135,886 people have become victims of the coronavirus in Russia.
At the same time, over the past 24 hours, 23,543 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in the Russian Federation, of which 7,597 were detected in Moscow, 2,663 in the Moscow Region, and 1,612 in St. Petersburg. The number of detected infected people in Russia is the maximum since January 17. The total number of cases of infection since the beginning of the spread of the coronavirus has increased to 5,538,142.
According to Alexander Ginzburg, director of the Gamalei Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, the delta variant of the coronavirus accounts for about 90% of all cases of infection detected in Russia.
Sergey Avdeev, head of the Department of Pulmonology at Sechenov University, said that almost all patients with coronavirus who are on artificial lung ventilation have become infected with the delta strain. This is reported by TASS. He clarified that to date, an increasing number of patients with coronavirus need oxygen therapy.
