OREANDA-NEWS The President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obian Nguema Mbasogo, at a meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin, offered him his country as a platform for the next Russia—Africa summit.

"I asked my friend, President Vladimir Putin, to give Equatorial Guinea the opportunity to host the next Russia—Africa summit, if it can take place on the African continent," he said.

On Thursday, the presidents of the two countries had a meeting in Moscow. At it, Putin noted that Russia and Equatorial Guinea have good prospects for cooperation. He singled out Moscow's interest in cooperation in the field of defense.

The second Russia—Africa Summit and Economic Forum was held on July 27-28 in St. Petersburg. The participants of the meeting concluded 161 agreements and adopted five key documents. In addition, two important memoranda between Moscow and leading African integration associations were signed in the presence of Putin.

The Pre-trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court, whose jurisdiction Moscow does not recognize, in March issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin and children's Ombudsman Maria Lvova-Belova. The ICC accuses the Russian authorities of deporting children who were taken out of the war zone to safe areas. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that raising the issue of the arrest of the president is unacceptable, and any decisions of the ICC are null and void.
