OREANDA-NEWS The issue of conducting a new mobilization in Russia is not being discussed. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum, as quoted by TASS.

"There are no such discussions," the press secretary of the head of state said, answering a question from the agency's journalists.

Earlier, Viktor Zavarzin, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, said that the lower house of parliament was not considering declaring mobilization against the background of events in the Kursk region. The Russian group in the special operation zone has "under 700 thousand" people. Such a number of soldiers is enough to carry out current tasks, he assured.

Partial mobilization was announced in Russia on September 21, 2022. Over 300 thousand Russians were called up during it. On October 28 of the same year, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported on its completion and the fulfillment of all tasks. Putin subsequently assured that there would be no second wave of mobilization, as there was no need for it.
