The Kremlin Answered the Question about the Recognition and Import of Foreign Vaccines into Russia
OREANDA-NEWS. The topic of mutual recognition of vaccines between Russia and the EU is on the agenda, the Kremlin hopes that as a result of the dialogue it will be possible to achieve a mutually acceptable result, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov.
"The topic of mutual recognition of vaccines is the topic that is now on the agenda. We hope that as a result of the dialogue with the European Union, we will be able to discuss this topic and come to some decisions, but unfortunately there are no concrete results so far. This topic will have to be discussed, "Peskov told reporters, answering the question whether Russian President Vladimir Putin is discussing the issue of admitting foreign vaccines to the country.
The Russian vaccine "Sputnik V" has been undergoing a gradual examination procedure at the European Medicines Agency (EMA) since March 4. Earlier, EMA expressed the hope that after the completion of inspections in the Russian Federation, the agency will be able to announce the schedule for the assessment of the drug. Sputnik V is registered in 67 countries with a total population of over 3.5 billion people. Data from regulators in a number of countries, including Argentina, Serbia, Bahrain, Hungary, Mexico and other countries, obtained during the vaccination of the population, demonstrate that Sputnik V is one of the safest and most effective vaccines against coronavirus.
At the same time, he noted that the Kremlin does not yet plan to allow foreign vaccines against coronavirus in Russia, said the presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, answering a relevant question from journalists. He is quoted by RIA Novosti on Thursday, July 15.
“This topic is not being discussed yet, Russia has enough vaccines of its own,” he said.
