OREANDA-NEWS. The press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov noted the question of how the situation with the "omicron" could affect the visit of Vladimir Putin to China.
According to him, the preparation of the trip is taking place in difficult conditions, while China is paying maximum attention to ensuring sanitary safety. At the same time, new requirements appear.
“What will happen next, in the remaining weeks before this trip, God willing, everything will go according to plan, at least we are preparing,” Peskov said.
He added that Moscow is preparing for full-fledged negotiations. In addition to the head of state, a Russian delegation will travel to China, and Putin will take part in the opening ceremony of the Olympics.
"We are ready to act energetically and flexibly, because the situation, as you can see, is changing rapidly, and here we need to respond quickly," the official said.
Earlier, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the plans of Russian President Vladimir Putin for the upcoming Olympics in Beijing.
The Beijing Olympic Games will be held from 4 to 20 February. The Chinese capital will be the first city to host both the Summer and Winter Olympics.
