OREANDA-NEWS. In Moscow, law enforcement officers detained an Iranian citizen suspected of multi-million dollar embezzlement in homeland. This was reported by the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk.

“The employees of the National Central Bureau of Interpol, together with operatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Moscow, detained a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Volk told reporters.

According to her, the Iranian accused of fraud was put on the international wanted list in October this year based on a request from Iranian law enforcement agencies. “According to information from foreign colleagues, he may be involved in the theft of about 250 million dollars,” the spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs said.

Volk added that the use of Interpol channels made it possible to quickly establish the fact of the suspect’s entry into Russia and promptly detain him.
