OREANDA-NEWS  The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has lowered its forecast for the growth of the eurozone economy in 2024 to 0.8% and in 2025 to 1.2%, according to a published report by the organization.

According to the tabular information provided, the forecast for the current year has been lowered by 0.1 percentage points compared to the July expectation. The forecast for next year has been lowered by 0.3 percentage points compared to the report for July. The IMF estimated the growth of the eurozone economy in 2023 at 0.4%.

The fund pointed out that the stronger growth in 2024 compared to 2023 was the result of increased exports, especially of goods from the euro area. In 2025, the economy will continue to grow due to the strengthening of domestic demand.

Nevertheless, the "persistent weakness" in industry is putting pressure on the economies of Germany and Italy.
