OREANDA-NEWS During the investigation of the case of the mutiny, it was established that its participants stopped actions directly aimed at committing a crime, the case was terminated, the FSB Central Control Center of the Russian Federation reported.
"During the investigation of the criminal case initiated by the investigative department of the FSB of the Russian Federation on June 23 under Article 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the fact of an armed rebellion, it was established that its participants on June 24 stopped actions directly aimed at committing a crime. Taking into account this and other circumstances relevant to the investigation, the investigative body issued a decision on June 27 to terminate the criminal case," the special service reported.
On Saturday night, the headquarters of the Southern Military District was captured by the forces of the Wagner PMCs in Rostov-on-Don. This happened against the background of Yevgeny Prigozhin's statements about the alleged missile and bomb attacks on the camps of the Wagner PMCs by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation - this was denied by both the Ministry of Defense and the FSB. A criminal case was opened against Prigozhin on the organization of an armed rebellion. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the actions of the rebels a criminal adventure, a stab in the back of Russia and treason, which led to excessive ambitions and personal interests.
Later, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, in coordination with Putin, held talks with Prigozhin, after which Lukashenko's press service reported that the head of the PMCS accepted his proposal to stop the Wagner movement in Russia and on further steps to de-escalate. The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that Prigozhin will leave for Belarus, and the criminal case will be terminated. The Kremlin said that the guarantee of this is the word of the President of Russia.
