OREANDA-NEWS Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia Rodion Miroshnik reacted with irony to reports of the destruction of the F-16 fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with its own Patriot anti-aircraft missile system (SAM). He commented on the incident on his Telegram channel.

"A decent start for the new "Wunderwaffe" (miracle weapons) in the hands of the Bedouins — an American plane with an American missile. They didn't let our guys get the well—deserved 15 million bonus for shooting down an enemy F16, they shot it down themselves!" the diplomat noted.

Earlier, Verkhovna Rada deputy Mariana Bezuglaya said that the Ukrainian F-16 was shot down by a Patriot missile defense system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to "discoordination between units." At the same time, the parliamentarian pointed out that in official reports, the cause of the crash is called pilot error. The loss of the first F-16 in Ukraine became known on Thursday afternoon, August 29.
