OREANDA-NEWS. The increase in the incidence of COVID-19 in Russia will continue for some time, the peak will come by mid-February. This was announced on Tuesday, February 1, by the deputy director for clinical and analytical work of the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor Natalia Pshenichnaya.
According to her, at the moment, an increase in the incidence will be observed for some time, since all regions are at different stages of the next epidemic rise.
“By mid-February, and possibly earlier, the peak will come, as predicted. At the peak, daily incidence rates can be very high, ”Pshenichnaya said, answering a question from Interfax.
However, she added that such a "sharp rise in the incidence suggests that after the peak, the same sharp decline can begin as in other countries."
In Russia, over the past day, 125,836 cases of COVID-19 were detected, 17,487 people were hospitalized, which is 92.4% higher than on January 31. Most of the new cases were recorded in Moscow (21,533), St. Petersburg (13,619) and the Moscow region (11,475).
General practitioner, cardiologist at SM-Clinic Rustem Osmanov said on Tuesday that the consequences of the coronavirus could increase the number of cases of disability. According to him, after hospitalization with COVID-19, patients often have health problems. Some diseases become chronic.
Immunologist Nikolai Kryuchkov said on February 1 that Russia would set records for hospitalizations during a new wave of coronavirus infection. In addition, according to him, for at least another 2.5 weeks, an increase in the incidence will be observed.
