OREANDA-NEWS The Ebeko volcano, located on the North Kuril island of Paramushir, on Friday morning threw out a column of ash to a height of 2 km above sea level.
According to her, the ash plume stretched in a southeasterly direction for a distance of more than 5 km.
"There was no ashfall in the city of Severo-Kurilsk (the only settlement in the Northern Kuril Islands). The smell of hydrogen sulfide is not felt. There is no threat to the life of the population," the message says.
An orange aviation hazard color code has been set for Ebeko, which means that ash can pose a threat to low-flying aircraft.
