The Criminal Who Took Hostage Is Detained in Kiev
OREANDA-NEWS. The portal Strana.ua reports that in Kiev, a terrorist was seized by officers of the unit Alpha of the Security Service of Ukraine.
At about 12:00 local time (10:00 UTC), a man entered the branch of Universal Bank located in the business center Leonardo in the center of Kiev, and announced that he has a bomb in his backpack. The offender took only one hostage, the head of the bank department. Other employees left the building.
The criminal was identified as a citizen of Uzbekistan Sukhrob Karimov. He demanded a live television broadcast. In addition, according to the reporters admitted to the bank, the terrorist demanded 40 thousand hryvnias (about 1,440 US dollars).
According to Strana.ua, Karimov was allowed, as he demanded, to go on the air of the television channel ZIK, and journalists were allowed to come to him. However, the audio was muted during the broadcast. After that, the criminal was arrested.
