OREANDA-NEWS  Relations between China and Russia are characterized by strong political mutual trust and independence, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) events in Vientiane. This is reported by the Xinhua news Agency.

"The relations between China and Russia are mature, stable, strong and independent, they are characterized by strong political mutual trust," the Chinese diplomat said.

Earlier, Sergey Lavrov thanked Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi for refusing to send representatives to attend the summit on Ukraine in Switzerland. He also expressed gratitude to the Chinese partners for a balanced and consistent line on the Ukrainian crisis.
