OREANDA-NEWS A court in Moscow sentenced top managers of three companies to various terms of imprisonment for embezzlement of more than 300 million rubles during the execution of a state defense order, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (TFR) reported.

"The evidence collected by the Russian IC was recognized by the court as sufficient to convict the general directors of commercial organizations Vyacheslav Shustov, Konstantin Savostyanov and Sergey Belov. They were found guilty of committing fraud on a particularly large scale in the execution of a state defense order," the ministry said in a statement posted on Thursday on the telegram channel.

According to the ministry, in 2018-2021, "Shustov, Savostyanov and Belov, acting as part of an organized group on behalf of commercial organizations headed by them, stole more than 300 million rubles during the execution of multimillion-dollar government contracts for the supply of products for the needs of the Russian Ministry of Defense concluded as part of the execution of the state defense order by overestimating the cost and forgery of documents."

"By the verdict of the court, Savostyanov was sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 9 years, and Shustov and Belov - for 6 years each. They will serve their punishment in a correctional colony of general regime," the message says.

The TFR added that the arrested property of the convicts totaling more than 50 million rubles was converted into state revenue by the court verdict.
