OREANDA-NEWS Two climbers who disappeared in the mountains in the Elbrus district of Kabardino-Balkaria died, their bodies were found at an altitude of 3,200 meters, they are planned to be lowered on Tuesday by helicopter, the main directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation for the region reports.

On Monday morning, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a message that two people did not return from the route to the Adyr-suu gorge. The climbers carried out the ascent of Yunom Mountain along the route of the 4th category of difficulty, but did not go down by the stipulated time. Rescuers by helicopter examined the slopes of Mount Yunom, but it did not yield results. Later, one group of rescuers landed on the Chegem glacier at an altitude of 3,400 meters to conduct search operations from the north-western side, another group began searching from the south-west.
"Members of another group found the bodies of two missing climbers at an altitude of 3,200 meters in the lower part of Yunom Mountain," the report says.

It is specified that the descent of the bodies of the dead is planned on Tuesday with the involvement of the MI-8 board of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia.

In total, eight rescuers of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue squad of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia are involved in the work.
