OREANDA-NEWS  More than 10 thousand specialists and volunteers are extinguishing wildfires in the Sverdlovsk region, the regional Department of Information Policy reports.

The agency clarified that 4807 specialists were involved in the elimination of fires. According to him, ten fires have been eliminated in the region on an area of more than 4 thousand hectares, while more than 54 thousand hectares of forest are covered by fire - 64 fires are active, 16 of them are localized.

The department added that about 6 thousand volunteers provide assistance to specialists in fighting fire. More than 500 pieces of equipment are involved, including BE-200 and IL-76 aircraft, Mi-8 helicopters.

Also, the department told about the details of the elimination of fires. So, under the Upper Pyshma, forests are burning on an area of more than 4 thousand hectares, one fire is localized. The Be-200 plane dropped 56 tons of water near the village of Pervomaisky. In the Berezovsky city district, there are two natural fires on an area of almost 1.5 thousand hectares . Il-76 of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia and Mi-8 of the Ministry of Defense are working on the fire. Forests on an area of 6.5 thousand hectares are burning in the Asbestos city district. In Degtyarsk, there is a fight against a grassroots fire on an area of 1.5 thousand hectares. Three natural fires with a total area of 6270 hectares are being liquidated in the Rejevsky city district with the help of aviation. The IL-76 jet dropped 88 tons of water there.

Earlier it was reported that the area of wildfires in the Sverdlovsk region amounted to over 33 thousand hectares. A surge in fires was recorded at the end of last week.
