OREANDA-NEWS The Il-38N and Tu-142MZ anti-submarine aircraft of the Pacific Fleet Aviation (TOF) have begun working out combat training tasks to search for targets during a bilateral operational exercise (DOE). This was reported by the press service of the Eastern Military District.

"The aircraft of the Il-38N and Tu-142MZ naval aviation fleet, during flights in the waters of the DOE, fulfilled their intended tasks using special standard means of detecting submarines of a likely enemy," the message says.

The helicopter pilots also practiced tactical techniques to search for submarines during the exercises. The pilots used lowered sonar stations and radar complexes. In turn, the crews of anti-submarine aircraft carried out search activities in the strait zones of the Kuril Islands. The coordinates received by the pilots were transmitted to the command posts of the detachments of the ships of the Pacific Fleet.
