OREANDA-NEWS. Chinese specialists began testing the drug triazavirin developed in Russia to examine its possibility to combat the new coronavirus. This was reported by Deputy Health Minister of Russia Sergey Kraevoy.

The official added that currently Russian physicians are not able to isolate the virus from infected patients on the territory of the country in order to accelerate the creation of the vaccine.

The Ministry of Health included ribavirin, lopinavir/ritonavir and recombinant interferon beta-1b in the list of medicines for the prevention and treatment of coronavirus infection. At the same time, the agency notes that there are no recommendations for the treatment of 2019-nCov. Alexander Chuchalin, a pulmonologist, a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that ribavirin is not effective in new disease’s treatment. Accordinfg to him, this fact was proved during past outbreaks of coronavirus infections.
