OREANDA-NEWS  Telegram has removed the monetization function for owners of Russian channels, RBC was convinced.

The corresponding section appeared in the statistics cabinet on July 19 and was available only to owners of telegram channels. It reflected the balance of advertising receipts in the domestic currency of Telegram Stars ("asterisks").

Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced the appearance of "asterisks" on June 6. The internal currency could be used to pay for services in mini-apps and purchase digital products such as e-books, online courses and items in messenger-based games.

As the Telegram team clarified, owners of public telegram channels with more than 1 thousand subscribers will be able to receive 50% of advertising revenue, withdraw it without commission or pay them for advertisements, collection addresses or Premium subscription raffle. The creators of applications (Mini Apps) through the Fragment platform could convert the received "stars" into the Toncoin cryptocurrency.

Toncoin (TON) is one of the top 10 largest cryptocurrencies. As of July 24, its exchange rate is $6.98 with a capitalization of more than $17.5 billion.
