OREANDA-NEWS Heads of tax authorities and experts from the BRICS countries at the first face-to-face meeting, which began in Moscow, are discussing improving the efficiency of tax administration, the Federal Tax Service (FTS) of Russia told RIA Novosti.
"In order to increase the effectiveness of tax cooperation within the framework of the BRICS, we need to strive to ensure that it is as productive as possible, focused on achieving practical results that benefit all its participants," said Daniil Egorov, head of the Federal Tax Service of Russia, opening the meeting.
He recalled that the Federal Tax Service of the Russian Federation, within the framework of the Russian presidency of the BRICS, proposed a new project approach to the interaction of tax services. The basis for this approach was laid last year, at a meeting of the heads of the BRICS tax services in Cape Town. The head of the Russian Tax Department noted the involvement and active work of all participants in tax cooperation in all countries of the association.
BRICS is an interstate association established in 2006. Russia assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1, 2024. The year began with the accession of new members to the association - in addition to Russia, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, it now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
At the meetings of the working groups on September 24 and 25, experts will discuss the main areas of tax administration: a client-centered approach, personnel projects, the use of data in tax administration, as well as issues of career prospects for women and young professionals in tax authorities. And the results of these meetings will be summed up at a meeting of the heads of tax authorities of the BRICS countries on September 26.
Russia's BRICS presidency is held under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security. As part of its presidency, the Russian Federation organizes more than 200 political, economic and social events. The unification summit will be held in Kazan in October.
