OREANDA-NEWS. Reuters agency, citing Syrian television channel Al-Ikhbariya, reported that air defense units of the country repelled an attack from Israel. Ministry of Defense of Syria informed that air defense forces shot down most of the missiles.

According to the Ministry, the attack began at 0:40 local time (20:40 December 24 UTC). “At 12: 40 this morning the Israeli enemy launched an aggression by directing a barrage of missiles from the north of the Lebanese city of Tripoli towards the Masyaf area in the western Hama countryside,” Reuters quotes the Ayrian military department.

Earlier, Syrian state TV reported of the sounds of an explosion in the Hama Governorate. TASS news agency, citing the channel, informed that the target of the attack could be a research center near the city of Masyaf. There were no reports of casualties or destruction.
