Swedish Virologist Criticizes WHO for Misinterpreting Data on COVID-19
OREANDA-NEWS. The World Health Organization (WHO) misinterprets data on coronavirus incidence in Sweden. This was stated by the Swedish state epidemiologist Anders Tegnell, who previously advocated the rejection of tough restrictions due to the pandemic and the choice of a strategy of generating of mass immunity.
According to virologist, the WHO has included Sweden in the list of eleven states where a dangerous revival of the incidence rate is registered, misinterpreting the data. Tegnell emphasized that this is a complete misunderstanding, since the surge in incidence over the past week is connected with an increase in the volume of testing of people. He also noted that the number of hospitalizations and deaths from coronavirus is gradually decreasing, and this indicates a decline of the epidemic, but not worsening of the situation. Tegnell added that WHO officials did not contact the Swedish authorities on this issue.
