OREANDA-NEWS. A fighter-bomber and strike aircraft Su-34 of the Russian Air Force crashed during a planned training flight in the Khabarovsk Krai, the press service of the Eastern Military District reported.

It is known that the two pilots managed to eject successfully, nothing threatens their health. “At present, the crew members have been evacuated to the home airport,” the message says.

It is clarified that the flight was carried out without ammunition. The airplane crash caused no destruction on the ground. A source told the news agency RIA Novosti that a technical malfunction could have caused the combat aircraft to crash. “The preliminary reason is equipment failure,” journalists’ interlocutor in the security forces said.

A commission from the Eastern Military District to investigate the incident was sent to the scene.
