OREANDA-NEWS. Spiegel magazine reported on April 10 that the United States has upgraded about 20 nuclear warheads that are deployed in the territory of Germany.

According to the publication, in autumn of 2019 the US Air Force removed warheads B-61 from the military base Buchel located in the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate and delivered them to the United States. Their software was modernized there.

It is noted that the US administration informed official Berlin about the operation shortly before it began. To ensure it, the German army was involved; it was planned to be connected to transportation in case of appearance of unforeseen circumstances.
