OREANDA-NEWS  The security of Kazakhstan and Belarus, Russia's allies, is ensured by a single "umbrella", Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu said after a meeting in Astana with Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

"You know, relations between Russia and Kazakhstan have such deep roots, they cannot depend on the election of the president of the United States. We share a common history, a common life, and common borders. Our border is more than seven thousand kilometers, continuous. The security of our allies, Kazakhstan and Belarus, is ensured by a single security "umbrella". We have always talked about this and have not hidden it. Some adjustments will be made after all the statements made by the US president. Life will show. Let's see what the real steps will be," Shoigu said.

According to him, security issues are being discussed with Kazakh colleagues on an operational basis. "All work is proceeding on a planned basis, and we have signed and approved a plan for our cooperation for 2025-2027," Shoigu added.
